This is a sketch of my bedroom my junior and senior year in high school. Dad and Mom agreed I could have my own room but there was no place to put me. David had the bedroom in the garage - which was a terrible idea since he wasn't doing anything good. So Dad built a deck over the back sliding door in the entry hall. The room was tiny. I think it was just three sheets of plywood set side-by-side on the opposite sides of the roof. My bed was on the roof slant and had shingles under it. The floor was bare and uninsulated. The closet was a rod with a sheet curtain. The window was a good size but only a single pane. I painted the room with my $20 budget a light green and tacked up a floral sheet on the wall by the door.
It was freezing in there during the winter. I used a ton of blankets and only let my nose stick out of the blankets. Suzanne would come join me in bed on a regular basis. When Keira could walk she would toddle in too. Snuggling with them was the warmest memory of that room.
I also had a picture of Oscar the Grouch I had colored taped to the back of my door and I titled it "My Idle". I was so funny.
I didn't spend a lot of time in my room but I did have a space of my own for a while.
Steve and I spent our first Christmas vacation huddled together on your twin bed...it was COLD!!! We wore coats to bed!
